digit digit (2020)

A multidisciplinary performance project activating intersectional and diasporic forms of dissent in today’s digital surveillance society. “digit digit” merges video, dance/performance art, science lecture, and interactive theatre. Researched and built in collaboration with Sammy Chien, Candie Tanaka, and kimura byol-nathalie lemoine. Scheduled for completion and premiere in 2020.

“was it the smell of solitude” is the newest large-scale multimedia dance project by Hong Kong Exile and led by choreographer Natalie Tin Yin Gan. Blending movement, set design, and live-manipulated digital light and sound, this project reflects three challenges we are tackling for the first time in company history: custom-designing a motorized lighting grid as an extension of choreography, creating work for a large ensemble, and engaging performers traditionally outside of the contemporary performance community. solitude is an interdisciplinary exploration of the Chinese custom of death as an active place of sounds, smells and stories.

was it the smell of solitude is expected to premiere in early 2021.
